Microsoft 365 Copilot

Microsoft 365 Copilot is a new digital work partner that enhances creativity, productivity, and abilities in Microsoft 365's Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and more.

It uses next-generation AI, large language models (LLMs), the Microsoft Graph, and Microsoft 365 apps to make your words the most powerful productivity tool.

Copilot improves and speeds learning, integrates LLMs, and integrates with GPT-4, Microsoft 365 apps, and company data in the Microsoft Graph. It creates, summarizes, analyzes, collaborates, and automates with company data, and can “animate this slide” and convert Word pages to PowerPoint.

Microsoft 365 Copilot is an artificial intelligence assistant feature for Microsoft 365 applications and services. Announced by Microsoft on March 16, 2023, the tool builds on OpenAI’s advanced GPT-4 large language models (LLMs) and incorporates Microsoft Graph in order to convert user text input into content in Microsoft 365 apps, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams. Copilot is being marketed with a focus on productivity for its users, with 20 initial testers as of March 16, 2023. In May 2023, Microsoft expanded access to 600 customers willing to pay for early access, with the office apps and services getting new Copilot features. Although there are public concerns about the chatbot, including hallucinations and racial or gender bias, experts believe that Copilot may change the way that Microsoft users work and collaborate. Microsoft announced during the Build 2023 conference that it is adding the AI assistant Copilot to Windows 11. The Windows Copilot service is directly integrated with Windows 11 and users can access it through the taskbar.

  • Copilot in Outlook can help synthesize and manage the inbox to allow more time to be spent on actually communicating.
  • Copilot in Teams makes meetings more productive with real-time summaries and action items directly in the context of the conversation.
  • Copilot in Power Platform will help developers of all skill levels accelerate and streamline development with low-code tools with the introduction of two new capabilities within Power Apps and Power Virtual Agents.
  • Business Chat brings together data from across documents, presentations, email, calendar, notes and contacts to help summarize chats, write emails, find key dates or even write a plan based on other project files.
