Phase D - Technology Architecture
TOGAF Phase D - Technology Architecture
TOGAF (The Open Group Architecture Framework) is a comprehensive framework designed to assist in the development of enterprise architectures. Phase D of TOGAF focuses on Technology Architecture, which is a critical component of the overall architecture development process.
Purpose
The purpose of the Technology Architecture phase is to define the technology infrastructure that supports the architecture vision defined in earlier phases. It provides a blueprint for the technology and infrastructure services required to support the business processes, information systems, and applications outlined in the architecture.
Key Activities
1. Identify Major Technologies: Evaluate existing technology environments and identify necessary technology components.
2. Define Technology Requirements: Develop a comprehensive set of technology requirements based on business needs and application requirements.
3. Develop Technology Architecture Model: Create models that represent the technological components, their dependencies, and how they interact with each other.
4. Assess Current Technology Environment: Analyze the current technology landscape to understand what can be leveraged or must be replaced.
5. Develop a Target Technology Architecture: Establish a roadmap for the future state of the technology architecture, ensuring alignment with business goals.
